Trademark Registration in Egypt

Your trademark is more than just a logo or name – it’s your business identity in the marketplace. At Legal Way, we understand how crucial it is to protect this valuable asset through proper registration in Egypt.

Why Register Your Trademark?

Registering your trademark in Egypt provides legal protection and prevents others from using similar marks that could confuse customers. It’s an essential step in building and protecting your brand while ensuring fair competition in the market.

The Registration Process:-

1. Initial Application

To begin the registration process, you’ll need to submit an application to the Internal Trade Development Authority (ITDA) with:

  • Four identical images of your trademark
  • A detailed list of products covered by the trademark
  • The appropriate category classification

2. Documentation Requirements

For Egyptian Citizens:

  • Individual applicants: Personal identification and contact details
  • Companies: Trade name, address, incorporation details, and commercial register
  • If using a representative: Power of attorney with specific trademark registration authority

  • All documents must be:
    • Notarized by the Egyptian Consulate in your country

3. Examination and Review

Our team will guide you through the examination process, where:

  • The ITDA thoroughly reviews your application
  • Any concerns are addressed through formal communications
  • Necessary amendments can be made within specified timeframes

4. Publication and Opposition

Once approved, your trademark will be:

  • Published in the Trademarks Gazette
  • Open for opposition for 60 days
  • Registered if no objections are filed or after successful resolution of any disputes

5. Protection Period

Your trademark protection lasts for ten years from the application date, with the option to renew.
